The Pros and Cons Of The OtterBox iPhone 4 Case Defender Series
The OtterBox iPhone 4 case defender series are iPhone cases made by OtterBox a company based in Fort Collins, Colo. The company has produced 3 series of iPhone 4 case namely the Defender series, Commuter series, and utilities Series. Each series has a slightly different features than the others. At this writing, I’m going to talk about the Defender series.
The Defender series put emphasize on the safety of your iPhone. As the name suggest, it really defend your iPhone 4 against any unwanted damage. I mean, since you are going to use the device quite often, there will be time when you accidentally drop it onto the floor, concrete or any hard surfaces.

The Defender Series is made of two special materials: plastic and silicone. The inner part is made of strong plastic material that function as the shell for your iPhone. It is really strong that even if you drop it, your iPhone will be okay. To make sure that your iPhone 4 is really well protected, additional silicone is added on the outer part of the case. The silicone material act as an impact absorber. Moreover, the rubber part as function as a gripper that won’t make your iPhone 4 easily slip off from your hand.
The appearance of These OtterBox Series are not bad at all. It comes in 8 color variation that you can choose. They are Black, black plastic/red silicone, Zircone blue, white plastic/black silicone, white plastic/purple silicone, white, and hot pink plastic/black silicone.
These colors can also distinguish your iPhone 4 from someone else’s. For example, if there are 2 phones in the house, than different color cases can tell which one is yours and which one is your wife’s or husband’s. It is not fair if I only write about the good things about these cases. Just like any other products, some people will have different opinion about the OtterBox iPhone 4 Case Defender Series.
The first is that some people said that the iPhone 4 will look bulky once it is encased in one of these cases. It is not entirely wrong. However, it looks bulky just because they are not used to seeing it encased. After a few days, after they are used to its new appearance, the iPhone will look just normal. Not bulky at all.
The concept of the Defender Series is to give full protection to your iPhone 4. Thus, once your iPhone 4 is encased in one of them, your iPhone 4 is “sealed”. It will be a little bit difficult to strip the case of your iPhone. If you are looking for a case that can easily taken off, then the Series are not the ones from you. But then again, that way, your most-loved iPhone 4 will be safe and secured.
